1.Open-plan living

Open plan living reflects a shift in modern lifestyles; with more time spent at home, a critical eye on layout and flow has been cast, and we are now making changes to maximise our floor plan.

Open-plan areas allow us to move more freely throughout the house while yet incorporating distinct zones for different activities such as working, dining, exercising, and relaxing. A growing number of people want their homes to seem open, breezy, and manageable for a family."

Because there are no walls in your home, socialising will be much easier. This is particularly beneficial for families since it allows them to spend more quality time together without disrupting their normal routine.

2. Space

Arma Inspiration

The key driver in home renovation for spring/summer 2022 will be space dedicated to self-care. Just over a third of Brits (34%) have allocated a place in their house to wellness or hobbies, and almost half (48%) would look for homes with a self-space when purchasing.

According to our research, Brits are putting their health and wellness first this year, and it's evident that our houses will continue to play a vital role in our lives as we seek to spend more time doing the things we enjoy."

With the emergence of the'spathroom,' or spa-inspired bathroom, the self-care movement is also transforming our bathrooms.

3. Creating a dream garden

As our love for our gardens grows, we'll see individuals decorate their gardens in the same manner they personalise their homes this year.

Almost a fifth (18%) of Britons would like a summer house or work office in their gardens, while nearly a 5th want a greenhouse or vegetable patch.

Gardens have traditionally been used as utility spaces or for aesthetic purposes, such as ornamental botanical gardens. People nowadays, on the other hand, seek to make their gardens feel cosy, as if they were an extension of their homes.

People are bringing the same interest in the decor of their houses to the design of their gardens, with the emergence of softer outdoor-use furnishings, lighting, accessories, and even fire pits.

4. Organisation

Considered organisation is more about showcasing your belongings in an intentional way than it is about decluttering your home.

Spaces that are uncluttered and well-organised, almost Zen-like, with calming clean lines that are "less is more." With a 700 % spike in Google searches for decluttering at the end of last year, 2022 appears to be the year for the ultimate spring clean.

People are reconsidering how they keep and organise their belongings. Installing kitchen shelves increased by 34% in the last year, while mounting floating shelves increased by 67%, demonstrating that empty walls might be useful.

5. Shades of Green

Green is the most popular colour for spring/summer 2022, and it has a fresh, harmonious, and revitalising effect in our houses.

Tones of naturally-inspired green will be a significant trend this year, from olive to sage, eucalyptus to mint.

Green will effectively become the anchor colour for a space's design and styling in 2022 home interior design.
